Daniel leidet am Down-Syndrom. Als Erster mit diesem Handicap in Europa schließt er ein Hochschulstudium ab und arbeitet anschließend als Sozialarbeiter in Sevilla. Er verliebt sich in seine "normale" und attraktive Kollegin Laura. Die akzeptiert ihn als Freund, langsam auch als Geliebten. Ihre Umwelt reagiert mit Unverständnis oder gar Abwehr auf die Beziehung.
